Tutorials for Jing and LucidChart
Educator's account for LucidChart
Planning for the tutorial, what to include, how to show the main features of using LucidChart.
Jing question: A Jing can't be edited without purchasing Jing Pro. Can we do the tutorial without editing?
Finalized storyboard on Wallwisher. Decided not to use Jing because we want to be able to edit the tutorial if necessary.
Made plans to try screen recording the tutorial on Wednesday at 10 a.m. via Skype and Quicktime. Difficulties in editing Wallwisher for Carol. Kathleen attempted to edit, but the Wallwisher program itself reported they were experiencing glitches.
We will be doing the screen recording in Quicktime.
The LucidChart workspace currently has additional storyboard information for the tutorial: http://www.lucidchart.com/invitations/accept/4f438 We divided the sections of the storyboard so we will switch off teaching about the various features. Downloaded Quicktime in prep for our call tomorrow. Will attempt to edit Wallwisher storyboard on 22 Feb.

Wiki communication
Wallwisher issue resolved Located Visual Story Map to use for demonstrating on LucidChart
Discussed storyboard and scripting, how to order the presentation, examples to use. Discussed Quicktime v. Jing Discussed how to share Works Cited/possibility of SlideShare
Will take a few hours to script, finish examples to include in the presentation. Try to capture some video on Jing to see how that will work.

Skype, GoogleDocs, and LucidChart communication
Decided to use a GoogleDocs presentation instead of SlideShare.
Connected via Skype and tried to create collaborative video in Jing, but we kept going over the 5 minute limit.
Carol added a picture of a mosque but is unsure of how to cite it from within LucidChart.
Worked collaboratively on the GoogleDoc adding text, pictures, and links to videos we created on Jing.
Carol used Quicktime to film the Venn Diagram collaboration, uploaded the Quicktime video to YouTube, and added the link to the GoogleDoc.
Carol sent a message to LucidChart to ask about citing images from within the program.

Email
LucidChart replied:
Hi Carol,
Thank you for your email, I am excited for your students to use LucidChart!
When citing Iconfinder, a general reference to the website Iconfinder.com should be sufficient and images from Google images from the search bar can easily be found by searching the normal Google images search bar and they will appear in the same order as they do in LucidChart. From there you should be able to find the correct citation. Does this answer your question? Please let me know how else I can help.
Cheers,
Mitch Dumke
Carol did a Google image search for "mosque," to replicate the search done within LucidChart. She cited the image on the slide where it appears as well as on the "Works Cited" page.
Tomorrow we are finalizing the details, adding the Standards, and double-checking the rubric. We will Skype again on Friday.

Carol and Kathleen both worked independently over the past two days to make final edits to the presentation on Google Docs. Via a wikispace message, Kathleen informed Carol that she felt the presentation was good to go. Kathleen had added a sentence regarding librarian collaboration to the Conclusion slide, just to make sure that the librarian's role in teaching LucidChart and collaborating was clear enough for purposes of the rubric. Kathleen began to fill out Questions 1-3 on the final rubric, and Carol finished them.
Uploaded final rubric on Google Docs, shared link with Carol so that we could collaborate on that. When Carol has viewed the final rubric and given her final approval to the links and to the wikispace, each partner will submit her final rubric individually.

Finalized rubric, verified that presentation was ready to submit.
Congratulated each other on a successful collaboration.

Carol contacted Kathleen about using images, fair use and copyright, as she had decided to not use one image that was in question from the tutorial. Kathleen affirmed the change and is now questioning the use of an image on the Science Concept/Definition Map.
Will 1) check with Dr. M. regarding the use of the image or 2) remove it.

Kathleen decided to create an image of a water molecule to include in Science Concept Definition Map, but can't import it into Lucid Chart. Also, asked Carol's opinion on citing the charts that I demonstrate on the presentation.
Requesting Carol's expertise.

Carol sent Kathleen a link to Snagit which would help her convert the image so it could be used in LucidChart:http://www.techsmith.com/snagit.html
Carol converted the image and sent it back to Kathleen.

Kathleen confirmed addition of images, and thoughts about final product.
